David Tutera, Wedding Planner Problems
David Tutera – Financereferences.com previously wrote articles about Comic Relief 2011, Budget 2011, and National Student Loan. Now we are talking about David Tutera, Wedding Planner Problems. Court records in Manhattan Supreme Court show that Chin and husband Steve Choi have discontinued their case against the toothy TV star, who also walked away from his countersuit against the couple. Tutera, a Manhattan-based party planner whose celebrity clients include Matthew McConaughey and Star Jones, was accused of no-showing the bash and leaving it without table linens and a dance floor.
A SUIT over a lavish wedding involving a celebrity wedding planner that made headlines last year has apparently been resolved. Singaporean Melissa Chin and her South Korean husband Steve Choi have settled the lawsuit they had with wedding reality TV show host David Tutera in an amicable manner, the Associated Press reported.

If you, like me, can’t wait for Sunday night, here’s an exclusive clip from the episode (airing March 20 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on WEtv), which features a woman dreaming of a “royal wedding.” David Tutera, famed wedding planner and star of the WEtv’s “My Fair Wedding,” is heading to Washington this weekend, but he won’t be planning a wedding. That means the National Building Museum will be filled with 30,000 red roses, 10-foot-tall candelabras and silver chairs, votives, napkins and chargers to represent the organization’s silver anniversary.

“I provide an experience for guests,” Tutera said. Planners from around the world gathered in Las Vegas last month to attend the 2011 Event Solutions Idea Factory Conference and Expo. The headquarters hotel, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, received high marks from attendees, who marveled at the high-tech sophistication that was almost everywhere you looked, from lobby pillars to elevators to touch-screen reader boards.
Special evening events included a Sunday welcome reception on the pool deck followed by a fund-raising event for the SEARCH Foundation, an industry organization devoted to assisting planners going through tough times. The event raised more than $6,000 for the Foundation. Co-located with Catersource, the expo floor was a delicious mix of food, event décor, technology tools and tablescapes.

Good friends, great food, hot coffee. We want to see spring colors, smell spring flowers, and taste flavors from the garden. A former Westchester resident, Tutera still plans parties in the area. Here, we share what we learned from watching Tutera organize a beautiful brunch for us at Scarsdale’s new Christie Place condominium complex. The eggs really were my underlying theme, and it was subtly tied throughout the whole brunch,” he says.
Since eggs were the underlying theme, it only made sense to include them as part of the menu. “The food itself really fits a spring party: eggs, honey, tea,” says Tutera. To spice up his own presentation, Tutera chose unique plates for every course. He served his eggs in dyed eggshell cups, and accented certain courses with fresh flowers.
A brunch should be formal in look, but casual in mood. Tutera likes his guests to feel comfortable and also a little pampered. Music helps create ambience, too. “It’s key to making people feel like they are at a party,” says Tutera. For a spring brunch like this, he recommends a light jazz soundtrack. For a more traditional brunch, try classical music.
Lesson No. 4: Leave a paper trail
Two rules for a successful party: Launch your party with an invitation, and give a favor to help your guests remember it. An invitation is your guest’s first impression of your party and it should really set the tone, says Tutera. Since brunch is less formal, he recommends a fold-over card with handwritten details (time, date, location, occasion and hostess information). It whets your appetite for spring.
