Milly Evans wins 10.8 million compensation in medical negligence claim
Milly Evans, an 11 year old Lincolnshire girl has been awarded 10.8 million compensation following a clinical negligence law suit. Milly was left with cerebral palsy following in-utero distress and a seizure in the neonatal unit at Lincoln County Hospital in 2001. The seizure was caused as a result of undergoing resuscitation in the unit. Her parents believe that, had the midwife spotted her foetal distress sooner, Milly may have been delivered earlier without suffering terrible injury. Despite the clinical negligence that occurred towards Milly, however, they have no bad feelings towards the hospital. Though being issued a formal apology by the hospital, the United Lincolnshire Hospital NHS Trust admitted liability in 2010, but had contested the amount of damages.
